Legacy School of Music is more than a place to take lessons.
It’s a place to grow.
Founded in 2010, and based in Table View and Durbanville, Legacy offers personalised music and vocal education for children, teens, and adults—whether music is a creative outlet, a personal goal, or a professional pursuit. Today, over 250 students attend Legacy weekly, supported by a growing team and a clear vision for continued expansion.
Our approach is built around one simple belief: no two students are the same, so their musical journeys shouldn’t be either.
We focus on quality teaching, genuine connection, and long-term development. Our focus is in supporting you to become the best version of yourself—musically and personally.
What sets Legacy apart is our commitment to meeting students where they are and helping them discover where they want to go.
We don’t assume every student wants to perform, join a band, or pursue music as a career. Some do. Many don’t. Both paths are equally valid. Our role is to uncover what truly excites each student and build their learning experience around that—without ego, comparison, or unrealistic expectations.
This philosophy has allowed Legacy to grow into something bigger than a traditional music school.
As students progress, Legacy provides opportunities to move beyond the lesson room and into a wider creative ecosystem—at a pace that feels right for them.
Accredited Learning & Milestones
Students have access to internationally accredited Rockschool graded exams, offering globally recognised benchmarks for musical development. To date, over 200 Legacy students have taken part in these exams, achieving an exceptional 98% pass rate.

Roots: Student to Teacher Program
For students who want to give back and grow further, Roots provides a structured pathway from student to educator—training, mentoring, and developing the next generation of Legacy teachers.
Not every student will walk every path.
But every student has the opportunity to find their path.
Legacy is built on the idea that music education should be personal, human, and meaningful. We value confidence over comparison, progress over perfection, and purpose over pressure.
With over a decade of experience, a thriving student community, and a mindset focused on continued growth and expansion, Legacy is committed to shaping meaningful musical journeys for years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions
Ofcourse you can!
Its important to note that you have already been doing this your whole life.
Does walking not involve rhythm? You literally walk to a 4 -4 rhythm. I.e the most common timing in all Rock and Pop music.
Do you not hum to the radio? That hum is a tone, a key, a pitch. We just need to help train your brain to recognise that pitch and key so you can exploit it.
Do you not wiggle when a cool tune comes on? Did you fall over ( don’t answer that ). The point is your internal musical ability has always been there just like how we can all punch and kick but martial arts classes helps you to define it, improve it and then wield it like the bad ass that you are.
Same goes for music!
Now lets get you started.
We believe talent is age-less and that everyone should be given an opportunity to try.
Therefore we encourage all ages to make a free booking so that we can evaluate a possible path forward.
Our minimum requirements for lessons are once a week for 30min. We do offer longer lessons at 45min or 60min slots at varying prices.
Upon signing up, you will choose an available slot that best suits you and that will be your recurring slot each week. Its very important for both the student and the teacher to have consistent classes each week to ensure your progress does not fall behind.
If you need to change the lesson time, you are welcome to chat with your teacher and they will change the time with you no problem.
You are entitled to reschedule a lesson up to 2 hours before the class should you be unable to attend the lesson. If however you do not reschedule, do not pitch or do not cancel the class with a reschedule arranged within 7 days of your class, you will forfeit the class and still be liable for payment.
We offer upfront, termly payments via EFT, Snapscan or Card Payments.
Classes can also be purchased directly from our website.
We also offer a monthly subscription option via debit order.
We offer the following voucher scenarios:
For both Termly and Monthly classes we require a 1 month notice. Cancellations can be done either via email at office@legacyschoolofmusic.com or on our WhatsApp Line 068 535 4924
Although we technically do not offer a free lesson, we do offer a free meeting opportunity to meet with the respective teacher and discuss your requirements. This can be setup using our book now button above.
Exactly, it’s an empty sales pitch and we’re just not about that life.
One of the main reasons we do not prefer the free lesson option over a free meeting is our lessons are very personalized and cater for vastly different people requiring very different things.
We prefer taking some time in a free meeting to get to know you, discuss your dreams, aspirations and requirements before formulating your class outline.
A free lesson can be a great way to see what the lessons are about, but one class will never truly demonstrate what we are truly about.
